24. The Book of Romans

God can give a spirit of stupor; eyes that should not see, ears that should not hear. This can happen when there is an attitude of deadness toward spiritual things. When a person rejects God and His grace you become hard and blind. Blindness is literally calloused, dull-hearted, to be hard, losing the ability to understand.

Why would anyone reject God and His grace? The folks then and folks today have heard the good news, the gospel message of grace, not everyone but many have heard. Out of flat out ignorance and pride the message has been diminished and rejected. That rejection brings a hard, calloused blindness. And yet somehow God will use this hardness.
